A hiking adventure filled with wild animals, campfires, trail magic, and danger. 13 year old David has been diagnosed with glaucoma, and doctors say that he will lose his eyesight over the next year. David remembers fishing with his Dad before he passed away, and wants to spend the last bit of time he has with his sight being outdoors. He is determined not to waste his last year of sight being cooped up inside. He figures the best way to see life is to go out and live it and decides to hike the pacific crest trail, a 2,653-mile trail from Mexico to Canada through California, Oregon, and Washington. When his father passed away, he told David's older brother Jack to watch over his brother. Jack has never been interested the outdoors, but knowing this is his brothers last chance to see, he decides to help him. This story is a harrowing adventure, of a boy finding himself, brothers bonding, and wilderness adventure through desert and snow.
