Today is a choice

love-today.jpg

Today is a choice. You could love others by serving them. You could fight the urge to serve yourself. You could be courageous. You could surrender to selfish gains. You could abandon the opportunity to love. You could serve yourself, ambitiously grasping for whatever you can add to your pile of dirt.

Today is a choice but yesterday has passed. Yesterday was once today. No amount of money can purchase a single millisecond of yesterday. It was priceless. Your today was forged in yesterday’s fires. Did you love the ones you wanted to love? Did you fight for them? Did you throw away the chance that you will never get again? How has yesterday shaped your today?

Today is a choice but tomorrow is a reckoning. With tomorrow comes the results of your choice. What will your tomorrow bring? Will it sing of your courage to love with all your heart? Will it weep the sorrowful wails of regret? Will it give you another chance to embrace those stitched into your heart? Will it teach you regret?

Today is a choice but one day will be your last. If that day were this day will you tell the ones you love how much they mean to you? Will you hold them close to you, in a fond embrace? Will you put them first, and seek every opportunity to truly be there with them? Will you realize that the accumulated treasures of this world were a cruel distraction? Will you be who you wanted to be on that day?

Today is a choice but one day the world will move on without you. How will you leave those you were given in your day? Will they have hearts forever marked by your love? Will they have a piece of you to carry with them? Will they treasure memories of you? Will they have an empty treasure chest?

Today is a choice. What you do with today will determine who you are. Will you love? Will you put others first? Will you figure out what is real? Will you cherish the ones you love?

Jesus fought for you. He gave all that he could possibly give to cultivate a relationship with you. His love was courageous. When all other attempts failed, his loved saved the world. When no one was victorious, and all hope was lost, Jesus prevailed. His love is effective. His love teaches the value of love. He was willing to die for love. His love called him to serve you. His love led him to suffer for you. His love was priceless. Love like Jesus.
