The Road
The road is the only way for a motor vehicle to easily enter the town. It is the biggest threat from the outside world apart from the bugs all around them. In order to protect themselves from outsides who would pillage and steal, they destroyed the road with explosives and spent some time planting grass and trees to obfuscate the remnants of the road.
The plan has successfully kept outside away to this point. However, old maps will still show the road and the town, so there is still a risk of a planned assault on the town.
