The wooded area surrounding the town is called the wood. This area is split into 4 quadrants: north, south, east, and west.
The north wood goes to the main road after about 3 miles.
The west, south, and east wood are very large. Dozens of miles each.
The wood is infested with various insects, and is the source of assault on the town.
Swarms of normal size insects regularly attack the town and target the garden
Swarms of large insects show up from time to time and attack the residents and livestock. The town has a lockdown procedure for such a time.
All residents are to remain indoors to limit injury
All livestock are to be secured in the barn stalls which have been reinforced to protect them from such attacks
A rare Colossal bug may wander into town, typically attacking the residents and livestock.
The lockdown is not effective against the colossal insect, so instead they all band together an fight the abomination.
They don’t always kill it, but they can prove to be too much trouble to justify the effort. Usually after a few blows the bug will leave.
Most of them do not return, but some have.
Residents and livestock have been killed in such attacks.

As I am writing chapter 2 I recognize there are some issues with Sanctuary. The security of this town does not make sense and I have a plan to fix this.
Introducing Jude, one of our main characters. He is the son of Nathan and Rebecca and brother to Eden.
As I write chapter 2 and try to introduce the next main character Jude, I find his current profession unappealing. Perhaps he needs to go in a different direction.
I go over some points that I was able to introduce in chapter 2’s first draft during week 1 of writing.
Introducing Oliver, the butcher. He receives meat from Jude and prepares it for the towns folk.
To make things better fall in line for the end of the story I am changing Rebecca to be a doctor.
Lets take a closer look at the wood outside of the town of sanctuary, and see how the residence secure resources.
